Sailing, yachts, adventure and sailing around the world.
I have a confession to make here. I have know Viki through the internet for almost as long as we have been living aboard Cygnus III but I won’t let it bias my review.
Viki sails a Young 88 keelboat called “Wildwood” with her partner Andrew around New Zealand.
I think it is fair to say Viki is totally in love with sailing and the dream of one day sailing around the world. I really think she has sea water in her veins.
The one thing I can say about Viki is that she is one of the friendliest people within the sailing world, forever helping others and always finds time to talk about sailing with anyone.
As I said I have been stalking Viki for a long time so I have had chance to see her website evolve over the years. She is a prolific writer so you will always find something new on the Astrolabe website and most of it is totally different. If you want to know something about sailing you will find it here.
The navigation and the layout of the site is simplistic making it easy to find what you want. There is everything from celestial navigation to how to write a sailing blog.
The writing is easy to read and well thought out and is a pleasure to read. The images have improved with time and are getting better and better.
If I have one complaint it would be that websites designs evolve quickly and Astrolabe sailing could probably do with a bit of a revamp just to make it a bit more pleasing on the eye. Having said that everything is there, easy to find and well worth subscribing to.
The Astrolabe website is jam packed full of useful information and good reading.
- Very knowledgeable
- Good writing
- Fun photographs
- Website may need freshening up
The Astrolabe website is always being updated with new and informative posts which are of practical use to sailors. Viki is friendly and quick to answer questions and help others when she can.
I would certainly recommend anyone to read this site and would give it a Cygnus review score of –
